A sensible budget pick if you want zoom without spending much. If reach is the whole reason you are buying, though, the extra outlay for the AZ425 buys meaningfully more of it.

Our take

Kodak PIXPRO AZ255 review: a cheap 25x superzoom for beginners

The smaller, cheaper sibling in Kodak’s bridge camera line. Less reach than the AZ425 but the same idea — long zoom, low price, simple operation.

What we like

  • 25x zoom reaches well beyond a phone
  • Cheaper than the AZ425
  • Comfortable grip and simple controls
  • Good enough in daylight

What to watch

  • Less reach than its bigger sibling
  • Small sensor, modest low-light results
  • Slow at the long end of the zoom
  • Basic video

Quick answers

AZ255 or AZ425 — which is better value?

The AZ425 offers considerably more zoom and resolution for a modest premium. Unless budget is very tight, it is usually the better buy — zoom is the reason to choose this type of camera at all.

Is 25x zoom enough?

For school sports, holidays and general distant subjects, yes. For small birds and serious wildlife, more reach always helps, and even 42x will feel limiting eventually.

Is it good in low light?

Not especially. Small-sensor superzooms need daylight to look their best. Indoors and at dusk you should expect noise and softness.
